FreedomStreams ’06 Fundraiser Raises Thousands
for 2257 Legal Defense Fund

May 16, 2006 – The Free Speech Coalition is pleased to express its deep gratitude to for last month’s one-day fundraising event – FreedomStreams ’06 – held April 18th with all proceeds earmarked for the 2257 Legal Defense Fund.

FSC would also like to express its profound appreciation to the studios that participated in FreedomStreams ’06. A complete list of participants is available here.

“Freedom Streams ’06 was literally months in preparation, all of it leading up to this one day, and for all that work we are truly indebted to,” said Michelle L. Freridge, FSC Executive Director. “But I think it is important for the industry to really understand what happened on April 18th. In the face of governmental efforts to harm this industry, not only did and over 80 companies come together to raise funds to protect our rights, but in doing so they collectively created a new model for future fundraising events. It’s exciting, because it was so generous and so innovative.”

The concept was brilliantly simple: one day was designated during which participating studios donated their profits to FSC, with matching the money raised dollar for dollar. The end result was that a considerable amount of money was raised for a very important legal challenge, with individual contributions spread evenly and kept relatively modest. Except for, of course, which was the driving force and major contributor.

Again, thank you, adult entertainment industry! It is important that we continue to work together to meet our challenges head on. Over the coming year we may very well see a marked increase in government aggression, and the best way to fight it is as a group.

Free Speech Coalition is the trade organization of the adult entertainment industry. Its mission is to safeguard the industry from oppressive governmental regulation and to promote good business practices within the industry.
